Have you ever worried about what swims deep in the ocean? Well, you should be.  Last week, a prehistoric shark was caught for the first time off the coast of Portugal. The shark has a snake-like head and 300 teeth.

According to Sic Noticias TV, the “Frilled Shark” was caught by a trawler during a research project on how to minimize unwanted catches during commercial fishing.

The shark is described to be similar to a fish mixed with a snake. It has never been captured alive and has hardly ever been seen in its own environment. The shark measure four feet, nine inches. This species is believed to have been around for 80 million years, which dates it back to the dinosaur age.

In the shark’s mouth, its 300 teeth are lined neatly into 25 rows.

This shark has only been spotted a handful of times since it prefers to swim at a depth of 3300 feet. This one was caught at the depth of 2300 feet.

Who knows when this prehistoric fish of the deep will be caught again.  Remember Warriors,  Portugal is just across the water from Misquamicut.
