‘Stranger Things’ has hit the science fiction genre by storm becoming a groundbreaking Netflix original TV series. The show takes place in 1983 where arcades were filled with kids on Saturday afternoons and all the teens were wearing slouch socks.

The Netflix original stars Millie Bobby Brown as Eleven, a girl who has psychokinetic abilities, and Winona Ryder, as Joyce a single mother who just wants to fix her kid. Both actresses have won major awards for their superb acting.

The show takes place in 1983 in a small town in Indiana where “Nothing ever happens.” That is until one of the residents, Will Byers, goes missing. Lucky for Will, he has a Mom and a  determined sheriff (played by David Harbour) who are doing everything to find him. Will’s three best friends and a girl with powers that are hard to explain are also hunting for him.

The show has received the SAG award for outstanding performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series, Producers Guild of America Award, and the MTV Movie & TV Awards for Show of the Year. The series has also been nominated for other awards such as the Golden Globe Award for Best Television Series – Drama.

The show kicked off its second season on October 27th and it definitely hit the ground running. The show upped the ante this season introducing new characters and a story-line that left the audience wanting more after watching the nine episodes.

This season takes place almost a year after the original incident and the small town in Indiana still isn’t as normal as everyone else thinks it is. This season still centers around the group of friends that viewers fell in love with Season 1, but also gives us some new faces.

Newcomer Sadie Sink is the group’s new rebel classmate Max Mayfield, and her brother Billy, (Dacre Montgomery), both add a twisted sibling bond to the series.

The show also gives an even stranger meaning to what could possibly be another dimension. The audience is given countless scenes of creepy moments that make you uncomfortable when watching.  Uncomfortable, but in a good way.

There are a few missing moments in the show that could have really added to season 2 however. For example, a little bit more of a backstory to why exactly Max and Billy moved into town would be helpful to viewers, and less confusion with the whole Nancy and Jonathan drama.

Things definitely do get stranger in the second season of ‘Stranger Things’, and despite many new changes, the compelling story continues without a hitch.
